Curated by Yvonne Doherty, Nemesis: The Source of One's Destruction opens at the Perth Centre for Photography on May 3. In this exhibition, photographers are asked to explore the following:
- the source of harm or ruin
- an opponent that cannot be beaten or overcome
- one that inflicts retribution or vengeance
- the source of damaging and dangerous behaviour
"Delve into your own or your subject's psyche, and find the nemesis lurking beneath the surface creating powerful emotional responses. The challenge lies in capturing your nemesis in visual form in a compelling way. The meaning of the word nemesis evokes darker themes but humour and kitsch can also be used to explore ideas."
